Sega ENDURO RACER Handle Assy.
By Sega Customer Service Department
San Jose, California
Game: ENDURO RACER Upright Handle Asserrbly
synptaE:
A: The Handle Asserrbly, at rest, drops
into the control box and is extremely
loose.
B: Handle bars must be turned off-center
to steer straignt. Also no steering &
broken potentiometers can be a symptom
shortly after proper alignrnent.
C: Accelerator will not return to throttle
off on its own accord. (Return spring OK)
Scope:
Units shipped before Septerrber 1, 1986 may
exhibit these syrrptorns if the unit is
abused by players.
Discrepency & COrrectioo:
A: The control base holders (MX-2033 &
2034) fall away (down) from the stationary
control panel due to excessive down
pressure by players. This down pressure
can cause the 4 machine screws rrounting
these holders to strip & pull out.
To prevent or to correct this, replace the
screws and, if possible, add nuts and lock
washers. (SEE FIG#l.)
In addition, two 1/4" holes rrust be
drilled 2-1/4" down & 1-3/16" over from
each top M-5 tanper screw holes that rrount
the control panel. (SEE FIG#2.)
Install #10-24 x 5/8" carrage bolts and
10-24 nuts with lockwashers.

B: The steering problem is caused by gear
'B' in FIG#3 rroving away and then back
again to gear 'A'. This will cause the
potentiometer to lose proper centering,
thus causing off-center steering & if
forced in a hard turn, potentiometer
breakage.
To correct this or to prevent it from
occuring, drill two 11/16" holes as shown
in FIG#3 and install two #10-32 3/8" self
tapping pan head screws & lock washers.
This will irmobilize plate 'A' in FIG#3
that has a tendency to shift during play
causing gear 'B' to j1.UT4? tooth alignment
with gear 'A'.
