COIN COUNl'ER WIRIN:i:
By Data F.ast Service Dept.
San Jose, C'A
There has also been some questions
regarding installation of a coin counter
to Data F.ast conversion kits. The logic
PCB has open collector coin counter
outputs for this function.
Symptom: Audio badly distorted.
Solution: -5 volts required from power
supply
The main harness supplied in the RIN:i KIN:i
II conversion kit has a Blue wire
connected to pin V (or Al8, depending on
type of edge connector) of the 44 pin edge
connector. This wire nust be connected to
the -5 volts output of your power supply.
This wire is not shown on the edge
connector pinout in the RIN:i KIN:i II
Installation & Service manual (PN
780-0033-00) but it is necessary for
proper operation.
If only one coin counter is to be used,
wire both Coin Counter 1 and Coin Counter
2 wires together and attach them to one
side of your coin counter. Connect the
other side of the coin counter to either
+5 vdc or +12 vdc depending on the voltage
rating of your coin counter.
The illustration below shows the proper
wiring of the coin counter circuit. The
diode shown is recormended to protect the
Logic PCB from spikes generated during the
coin counter operation.
The Blue wire is labeled as to its
function for your convenience.

Symptom: Magazine and/or turntable runs
continuously until unit is turned off then
on again.
Fix: On the rectifier PCB, located in the
power distribution asserrbly, perform the
following;
Cut the trace going from Ul, pin 2 to pin
11 of the 12 pin Molex connector. Install
a 1N4004 diode with the cathode facing pin
11 across the cut you made. 'Ihe trace is
wide enough to solder directly to it.

Future scanning projects are planned by the International Arcade Museum Library (IAML).
