This three flipper garne seems to be a
total bore, at least to this player. The
playing field alone is one of the emptiest
I've seen in quite some time. With only
two bumpers located at the top half of the
machine, and one ramp shot on the right,
the player is left with a very limited
nurrber of shots to go for.
OOUNl'Y HUNl'ER
'lbe machine I played had two score
settings; 800,000 for the first free garne
and 1,700,000 for the second. Just for the
heck of it, I tiired IT!YSelf on one game.
After playing the machine for 8 minutes on
one game, I was looking at only 650,000
points!
Bonus points seem to be the toughest act
on BCXJNI'Y HUNI'ER. There are no time values
and after each ball, you start from
scratch. The machine does offer a free
ball shot and a special, however. The free
ball seems like the best feature on this
machine. Shooting for the A-B-C {on top)
and spelling out HUN--TER lights your free
ball and you can then work your way to the
special {about four steps).
{It turns out, at least on this game, that
the special lights up but when you make
the shot, no game! I hope they get that
fixed soon. )
For the player who is looking for your
rrost basic nonconfusing machine, this one
may be for you. Hitting a game on BOUNl'Y
HUNl'ER left this player bored and
definitely tired of spelling out HUN-TER.
Play on. . . Root.

MY operators out there with the rare
Nichibutsu TUBE PANIC can pl.lIIp up the
earnings by changing from a 8-way to a
2-way left/right joystick and grounding
the up circuit.
This sends the ship forward at high speed
through the space horizons and tubes for a
dramatic visual and cashbox effect. Medium
and slow speed flying are eliminated, and
high score initial entry zips by at high
speed. {Note the similarity in effects
between this game of 1984 and the new Sega
SPACE HARRIER of late 1985.)

In the February edition {Vol 7, No 9), of
STAR'lrTECH JOURNAL there was a fix for
washed-out video associated with
Mexootron's MAT MANIA kit. While this fix
works somewhat, the proper remedy is to
remove R3, R4 and R6 from the logic
boards.
These are located on the top board next to
TRl, 2, 3 and 4. This should be done to
all boards prior to installation for best
picture definition.
Note: I)cm' t remove R5 or you will lose
your sync signal.
