The AQIB show that was held at the
Expocenter in downtown Chicago March 7th
through March 9th was well attended by
operators fran around the country. M::>st of
the exhibitors I spoke to were pleased by
the turnout.
AQIB presented an opportunity to see a lot
of new product that is coming down the
line. I will review some of the highlights
of the show for th:>se of you who were not
able to attend. There is not enough space
to cover every single item or to go into
the games too deep, so I will just give a
brief mention of what I consider
important.
Atari showed a three player driving game
called SUPER SPRINI'. This game was being
played everytime I went by and seemed to
get a very favorable reaction.
Bally/Midway/Sente had three pieces that
are worth mentioning: Bally showed LADY
LUCK -a new pin game. Midway showed a
driving game called RPM that used a split
screen and actually was three different
driving games in one. Sente exhibited
S'IDMPIN and a catchy game called Nl\ME THAT
'IUNE which seems to have enorrrous
capabilities.
CAPCa'1 showed S&:TION Z which is a
conversion kit for raster-scan games.

Cinematronics held everyone's attention
with a new bowling game called ALLEY
MASTER. This game is part of their CINEMAT
System.
Data East gave us SPEED BUGGY in both a
sit-down three-ronitor version and a new
upright version. This is a good driving
game, folks. They also showed three
good-looking kits: EXPRE:sS RAIDER,
BREAKTHROUGH and RIN:; KIN; II.
Guess what? KUN; FU MASTER, COMMANOO and
SHOOI'CXJT are all available as conversion
kits now.
Digital Controls had a new counter top
game called PACER POKER.
R.H. Belham was there with a host of
rederrption equiprrent like cranes and other
assorted versions. There seemed to be rore
rederrption-based product at this show than
ever before. Maybe we should take note of
this trend?
Kitkorp was showing their GAMATRON pinball
conversion kit along with a video
conversion called GUARDIAN.
Romstar showed three nice kits: GHC6TS
GOBLINS, PATI'LE LANE FIVE and TROJAN.
&
Sega showed three outstanding dedicated
games. They had one called SPACE HARRIER
available in upright, sit-down or in a
simulator. MAJOR LE.AGUE is a new baseball
game that uses trackballs and all kinds of
controls but presents a very realistic
situation. Sega's new gun game SHCX)TIN:;
MASTER is probably the one likely to
succeed.

Konarni has a dedicated piece called GT. It
is a real nice looking driving game. They
also showed JAILBREAK, IRON HORSE and
NEMESIS which are all kits.

Mernetron still has MAT MANIA.
Symptoms: A. Game won't power-up or resets
intermittently.
B. Unstable picture on monitor.
Nintendo displayed their newest software
kit for the VS and Uni-system called SUPER
MARIO BROS. They also showed a prototype
of GUMSHOE which is another gun game.
Discreµmcy: Supply voltage low and/or
sync incorrectly connected.
Premier had their newest pin RAVEN along
with a new edition of ROCK and an update
kit for the old ROCK.
Taito had a kit, BIG EVEN!' GOLF, available
as an update for BIRDIE KIN; or in a
universal format. (This is one helluva
golf game!) They had a two piece gun game
called NEW YORK CAPIOR that looked like
another good gun game.
Williams showed ALLEY CATS, their newest
shuffle alley, and of course they had HIGH
SPEED pinball games all over the place and
everyone seemed to love them.
ACME indicated a return of a few old
standards like gun games, driving games,
pinball and redemption equipment. There
were pay telephones and simulators
scattered around the floor, too. Rowe and
NSM showed music but not much new.
Looking back on the ACME show, I must
admit, there was a lot of dedicated garnes
displayed and I found that fact a little
surprising. Kits were still everywhere,
however, and seem to be hot as ever.
r-t::>st of the equipment displayed will be
available this spring so we will all get a
chance to see them and how well they will
do out in the locations where it really
counts.
Corrections:
A. Using a digital meter, make certain 5
volts D.C. is present at the P.C. Board.
Any less than 5 volts at the board will
cause intermittent and random problems.
Pin #1 is negative and Pin #3 is positive
on the P.C.Be connector.
B. To correctly connect the ironitor to the
P.C.B., use the wire routing diagram on
Page 5 of the CHOPLIFTER Instruction
Manual packaged with each P.C.Board.
Connect the Red, Green and Blue outputs to
the ironitor you are using -Do Not
Connect or use the black ground wire from
Pin "Z" of the edge connector. Next,
connect the Sync Ground Wire (Gray/Black)
from Pin #22 to the Sync Ground Connection
on your monitor. This is the only ground
connection to be used from the board.
Next, connect the Negative Coqiosite Sync
wire (Gray/White) from Pin "Y" to the
proper connector on your monitor.
Older ironitors may require you to jumper
the "H" & 11 V 11 Negative Sync inputs
together before connecting the Sync wire
from the P.C.B.
If Positive COqiosite Sync is needed,
please call Sega Customer Service for
conversion procedure.

Cinematronics advises that the joysticks
on the WORLD SERIES requires so:rre
lubrication. The springs should be lubed
at their connecting points and the lever
should be lightly lubed at the pivot
point. Take care of this right away so
that you won't have to replace it later.
