THREE GREAT PIANO VIRTUOSI OF TODAY
WALTER GIESEKING
JOSE ITURBI
HAROLD BAUER
AND THE PIANO OF THEIR CHOICE
BALDWIN
HE portraits shown above are of three pianists who have heen very
prominent in the piano world in concert and recitals during the past
season, since the first days of the present year.
They are three virtuosi who have carried music far and wide, having
appeared in solo concert work and symphony concert soloists with the
great orchestras of the country as well as having given many piano re-
citals in localities where musical interest and musical activities prevail.
Also is shown a picture of the latest Baldwin Grand creation, the
style D Masterpiece concert grand piano, the model chosen by these
artists for their concert work, though a smaller model is generally used
at their studios.
The testimonials of artists as to the merits of pianos they use are more
or less interesting, but their statements and compliments after trial upon
trial and under all manner of the conditions subjected to by pianos en
route, are particularly so and are doubly valuable.
Here is what the three gentlemen whose portraits appear above have re-
cently said of the piano they have been playing on so successfully in
their concert work:
Mr. Gieseking says:—
"It has the most beautiful tone I have ever found in a piano. It is truly
marvelous with what suppleness the Baldwin is prepared to respond to
every intention of the artist and to permit him to realize every effect, dy-
namic or technical, every nuance of expression, even the most delicate."
Mr. Iturbi says :—
"I am happy to see that the plan you started six years ago has arrived to
such magnificent reality. At last we have the most perfect piano."
Mr. Bauer says :—
"My closest examination of the Baldwin has shown it possesses all the
qualities I desire, in order to bring beautiful music expressively before
m y audiences."
