FOLDER ANNOUNCES NEW DRUMS
New Bargains of Wilson Bros. Mfg. Co. Described
in Attractive Circular Just Out.
Two new styles of drums and a complete drum set
are offered to the dealers for the first time in an at-
tractive advertising circular which is now being
mailed out by the Wilson ]5ros. Mfg. Co., Chicago.
In addition, the circular describes the All-Metal
Drutn, which was the best seller of 1922, and which
is a companion drum of the two that are announced
for the first time.
All articles on the circular go under the trade
name of the Acme, and all demonstrate the acme of
perfection reached by this factory. The shell of the
all metal drum is of brass with a special reinforcing
and strengthening rib in the center. The center-
support bass drum is so constructed that the center
posts hold the rods straight and rigid and eliminate
vibration. The Acme wood drum also is profession-
ally constructed v throughout, having maple shell and
hoops, eight husky rods and hooks and the best
white heads. All of the instruments are built for
professional use, as they are not toys in any sense of
the word.
The Acme Apartment outfit consists of articles of
professional quality, small enough to put in the
clothes closet, yet large enough for any home orches-
tra. The articles in the set are a thumb rod bass
drum, thumb rod snare drum, pedal, drum stand,
pedal cymbal and holder, crash cymbal and holder,
and spurs and sticks.
The folder on which these drums and apartment
outfit are described is a neat bit of publicity work,
being arranged so as to please the eye and lead the
reader to the very end of the descriptions. Cuts of
all the articles are printed, and two colors enhance
the natural attractiveness of the arrangement.
OUTFITTING LEGION CORPS.
One of the big sources of business within the past
few weeks for the Wilson Bros. Mfg. Co., Chicago,
has been from American Legion posts over the coun-
try, who are organizing drum and bugle corps.
Among the posts who ordered complete sets of snare
drums, bass drums, bugles and fifes last week are
Sterling Post, Sterling, 111.; Morris J. Edwards Post,
St. Johnsville, N. Y.; and the Chambersburg Post,
Chambersburg, Pa. It is significant that two of these
orders were secured from towns much closer to the
Xew York drum factories than to Chicago,

Facts in Various Lines of Commodities Which Enter
Into Musical Instrument Manufacture.
The iron and steel industry is operating practically
at as full capacity as labor and transportation condi-
tions permit.
Copper has taken a sudden spurt appreciably above
15c per lb. The indications are that this industry
will before long experience conditions not unlike
those that have sprung up in the steel trade, now
that the huge surplus left after the war has been
pretty well worked off.
The possibility that Great Britain may levy a high
export tax on rubber to assist in paying her war debt
to the United States has created some concern in
government circles. Many officials believe there is
a splendid opportunity for development of the rub-
ber industry in the Philippines.
Wilber A. Putnam, treasurer of the Boston Varnish
Co., Boston, died recently at the age of 52.
The Bureau of Commerce, Washington, has been
informed by U. S. Consul Cross at Lourenco Mar-
ques, Portuguese East Africa, that there is much
mahogany available in his district and producers
there are anxious to get in touch with American ma-
hogany buyers.
