Remedy for false credits
Taito's Space Chaser
and Lunar Rescue
Problem: False credit.
Symptom: Game will add one
credit for no apparent reason.
The game can then be started
without adding a count to the coin
meter. Since the meter reading
and the cash box total equal out,
the condition could go unnoticed.
Cause: Transient static of any
magnitude causes the condition.
However, it may not be evident if
you try to simulate it on location.
The symptom appears in all types
of locations, even areas that don't
normally have static problems.
Remedy: Obtain two pieces of
green 16 ga. wire, one 24" long
and one 40" long, and three #6
ring terminals. Then:
1. Remove power from game.
2. Terminate one end of the 24"
wiretoaringterminal. Terminate
the other end of 24" and one end
of 40" wire to a ring terminal.
terminate the remaining end of
the 40" wire to a ring terminal.
3. Install the free end of the
24" wire to the monitor chassis
frame at any sheet metal screw.
Run the other end of the 24" wire
down to the logic board chassis
and fasten it to one of the screws
that mount the chassis to the
cabinet side. Run the remaining
end of the 40" wire over to the
metal "cage" of the switching
regulator and attach the ring
terminal to any one of the four
screws that attach the cage to the
power upply board.
4. Be sure all other ground
wires in the unit are secure.
5. Power up the game and
check the play of the game.

Anti-cheat kit is available
Coin Controls Ltd. announced
the availability of an anti-cheat
system which can be built into
their S1 series of coin acceptors
or offered as a kit of parts for the
on-site modification of this pro-
duct line.
The device operates on the
principle of using the coin as a
current-carrying member and
occupies the same space as the
existing "Marinyl Switch/Cradle
Assembly with Coin Outlet Guide
Extension." It will interest oper -
ators currently struggling with
the fraudulent operation of 50-
pence entries with 10-pence
com , according to the British
firm. Coin Controls say this is an
interim solution to meet today's
need while a more sophisticated
generation of electronic coin
testing devices will be answering
this and other foreseen problems
on coinmachines in the not too
far-distant future.
