Numbers Announced for
National Band Contest
The Committee on Instrumental Affairs of
the Music Supervisors National Conference has
just issued the list of required and selective
numbers to be used in the State and National
School Hand Contest for 1931, also the Na-
tional required and State recommended num-
bers for orchestra contests.
The committee last year co-operated in forty-
two State school band contests with a total
of 934 bands entered, and also co-operated in
thirty-seven school orchestra contests on a
State basis. The aid in both cases consisted
r. f prize awards and the recognition of the win-
ners as eligible to the national contest. Several
states will be added to the list this year.
Much interest is shown in the pieces selected
by the committee; not only by the bands and
orchestras who plan to participate in the con-
tests, but by those who are seeking suitable
repertories for school bands and orchestras.
