MILWAUKEE, WIS., December 13.—The manu-
facture of Holton band instruments is de-
scribed in The Wisconsin Apprentice, a mag-
azine issued periodically by the industrial com-
mission of Wisconsin. A visit to the Frank
Holton Co., at Elkhorn, is described in the
book. The craftsmanship evident in the fac-
tory and the great amount of handwork done
are points especially brought out, together with
the fact that apprenticeship is necessary before
workmen are able to perform their work up to
the standard of requirements.

Lange through his overseers in the Brooklyn
plant is exceedingly high. The incentive for
an employe to turn out his best efforts lies in
the future that awaits him when he is able to
work on Paramount and Orpheum and the
higher-grade Banner Blue instruments.
Thus, even the low-priced instruments are
carefully made by men who have an interest
in their work because they know it is only a
stepping stone to greater possibilities just
ahead.
