Bruno Announces New
Tenor Banjo Line
Known as "Magic Wonder" With Maxitone
Resonator—House Expects Line to Be Very
Popular
:
An important announcement was made last
week when C. Bruno & Son, Inc., wholesalers
of musical merchandise, • 353 Fourth avenue,
New York, gave the news to the trade of its
new line of tenor banjos. This line is known
as the "Magic Wonder."
The Bruno organization is now featuring the
Magic Wonder in an outfit which promises to
be popular with the trade and consists of tenor
banjo, extension resonator and case.
The new banjo has an eleven-inch rock maple

rim with outside veneer of bird's-eye maple and
has a special flange hoop attached to the rim
underneath the calf head. It has a three-piece
rock maple neck with ebonized fingerboard and
pearl position dots. It is equipped with imita-
tion ivory patent pegs.
The extension resonator is the "Maxitone"
resonator, which was recently announced to the
trade and which is proving to be very success-
ful. This resonator is of heavy gauge aluminum
with circular openings through which the tone
passes. The back is finished in imitation ma-
hogany and other finishes, so that the resonator
adds materially to the appearance of the in-
strument as well as enhancing volume and
purity of the tone.
The case which goes to make up the outfit
is a center-opening style case, of three-ply
veneered wood shell, covered with walrus grain
keratol. It is full flannel lined, has round leather
handle and nickel-plated clasps, hinges, spriny
lock and trimmings.
"When I say that this Magic Wonder tenor
banjo outfit far surpasses anything of a similar
nature that the trade has ever known," said
Fred Kling, of the Bruno organization to a
representative of The Review this week, "there
is no exaggeration in the statement. A number
of the most successful and keenest music dealers
have already expressed great admiration for the
banjo and they call the outfit the most prac-
tical and progressive unit they have ever seen.
We expect to do great things with it and the
early orders indicate that it will be very popu-
lar with dealers."

In order to enable dealers who handle the
Paramount banjo to tie up effectively with the
local appearances of Paul Whiteman and His
Orchestra, William L. Lange, manufacturer of
Paramount banjos, 225 East Twenty-fourth
street, New York, has issued an attractive cir-
cular featuring the orchestra, which the dealers
can use for free counter distribution. The cir-
culars have already been used by dealers in
cities where the Whiteman Orchestra has al-
ready played on its tour.
The circular is handsomely printed in two
colors. The cover is a hand-lettered affair illus-
trated by sketches of Mr. Whiteman and Mike
Pingitore, the banjoist, who uses Paramount
banjos exclusively, having two of them. The
cover bears two significant statements, the first
reading, "The Banjo Is the National American
Musical Instrument—Paul Whitcman," and "The
Paramount Banjo Is the Banjo of All B a n j o s -
Mike Pingitore."
The center spread of the folder is illustrated
with photographs of the augmented orchestra
as it appears on tour and Mr. Pingitore holding
a Paramount. The text is a reproduction of an
article from the pen of Mr. Whiteman, which
appeared in the New York World, dealing with
the importance of the banjo in the modern
orchestra.
The folders are being distributed to Para-
mount representatives.
