INSTALLS SCHIRMER LIBRARY
PORTLAND, ORE., May 14.—The McDougal Music
Co. has installed a complete Schirmer library,
which has 1,420 volumes. The sheet music de-
partment of the store is in charge of Miss Oc-
tavia Stone and she reports that the business of
the department is increasing very rapidly, the
volume of business for April more than doubling
that of any previous month. The new waltz
song, "Moonlight Hours," by Catherine Bernard,
who is composer of "Come Back and Drive the
Clouds Away," is being featured. The Port-
land public are playing, singing and whistling it.
THE "SCANDALS OF 1921"
"Bugs" Baer has written the book, Arthur
Jackson the lyrics and George Gershwin the
music for the new George White "Scandals of
1921." The show is booked for New York,
opening early in June. The music will be
published by Harms, Inc.

Irving Berlin, the songwriter and head of
Irving Berlin, Inc., was in Yorkville Police
Court, New York, recently to press a complaint
against Max Greenberg, nineteen years old, who,
it is alleged, has been using Berlin's name.
It was bad enough, Mr. Berlin said, to have
his name used by a man who signed checks in
restaurants and started flirtations with young
women in distant States, but when it came to
asking a butler, in the name of Irving Berlin,
to lend him money, Mr. Berlin thought that
some charge involving a cruel and unusual pun-
ishment ought to lie against the defendant.
He had learned, Mr. Berlin continued, that
Greenberg had obtained permission to use the
telephone at the home of Mrs. Randolph Gug-
genheimer, 923 Fifth avenue, saying he was Irv-
ing Berlin, and then had returned and tried to
borrow money from Mrs. Guggenheimer's butler.
Greenberg was held for examination on a charge
indicating suspicion of forgery.
