"QUALITY STREET" IN MUSIC DRESS
New Musical Comedy, Recently Opened, Highly
Praised for Its Music
The musical version of J. M. Barrie's comedy,
"Quality Street," recently opened at the Shu-
bert Theatre, New York. The book and lyrics
are by Edward Delaney Dunn and the music
is by Walter Kollo. It is presented under the
title, "Phoebe of Quality Street." The music is
by a Viennese composer who has contributed
engaging music and the songs are well sung.
It appears to be a question whether the play
will have a long run, but there is no dissenting
opinion, at least none that can be gleaned from
public prints, as to the merits of the music of
the production. Indeed, the opinion seems to be
that if the show proves a big success it will,
in no small measure, be due to the music.
The following are some of the musical num-
bers: "A Dream of Joy," "The Promise of the
Rainbow," "The Autumn Sun," "Dawn Grows
to Morning," "Oh, Let Us Be Merry," "Waltzing
Is Spreading From Land to Land." The Tama
Music Publishing Corp. is the publisher of the
score.
WINS FAVOR OF PRINCE OF WALES
A dispatch from London, England, says that
although the American musical comedy "Mary"
has only lately been produced there, one of its
songs, "The Love Nest," has long been popular
in London, thanks to the Prince of Wales.
He saw the show in New York last year and
was so taken'with the song that he asked for a
copy of the score. Then he wanted to send a
copy to Princess Mary, but was told that would
be impossible, as the song had not been pub-
lished in England and would not be until the
play was brought there.
However, eventually a point was stretched and
the song was published there some time ago.
NOVELTY NUMBER OF MERIT
"Rock-a-bye Baby Blues," by Alex Rogers and
C. L. Roberts, a song recently purchased by the
Piroadway Music Corp., is a novelty number of
unusual merit. The new publishers have given
it an entirely new title page and a special cam-
paign giving it publicity has been arranged.
Mana-Zucca is the author of a "paraphrase
brilliante" on the theme of "Over There," ar-
ranged for the piano. The number is one of the
newer issues in the catalog of Leo Feist, Inc.

TRIANGLE CO.'S NEW NOVELTY
FORSTER PURCHASES "LISTENING"
The Triangle Music Co. has just issued a new
novelty, by Dave Ringle, entitled "In Your
Eyes." This is a ballad fox-trot, with a special
comedy version.
Forster, Music Publisher, Inc., has purchased
from the Ted Garton Music Co., of Boston, the
song "Listening," which has been received very
favorably in Eastern territory.

Future scanning projects are planned by the International Arcade Museum Library (IAML).
