THE MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
SOME CLEVER MUSIC ADVERTISING
H. A. Weymann & Son, Philadelphia, Hook Up
Newspaper Publicity With Window Displays
and Create Increased Demand Thereby
H. A. Weymann & Sons, Philadelphia, have
accomplished particularly interesting results
through the running of a series of advertise-
ments in the local papers, each advertisement
but if the number was also offered in record or
music roll form there was a remarkable in-
crease of its sale in those forms.
Tn short, the advertising had a three-way ef-
fect of stimulating business in the sheet music,
music roll and talking machine departments of
the Weymann store. As a matter of fact, the
company has reason to believe that Philadel-
phians have begun to look for their advertise-
ments in order to keep in touch with the new
music.

1547 Broadway (Gaiety Theatr* Bids.). NEW YORK
The L. S. Florence Music Co., Haverhill,
Mass, recently received a letter from Lieut.
Floyd B. Pitts, of the New York Police Band,
which states that in his opinion the above firm's
"The Battle Line of Liberty," a march, "is the
best issued since the outbreak of the war." The
demand for the number from band and orchestra
leaders shows it has exceptional merit, and as
its sales in sheet music form are constantly in-
creasing the public, too, finds it a number above
the average. As the number has also been re-
corded by several music roll concerns, the L. S.
Florence Music Co. have what promises to be a
march hit.

the pen of Harold Neander, who is also the Chi-
cago representative of the company.
The Australian rights for the Monarch Music
Co.'s publications were recently granted the
Mark Gilbert Co., Sydney, Australia, and L.
Millward Rackham and the Frederick Harris
Co. are their representatives in England.

JAZZ ORCHESTRA BUSY
Wilbur Sweatman, the well-known musical
director, who is also responsible for many of the
jazz phonograph records, has been engaged to
piay a series of concerts at the Eltinge Theatre,
New York, with his jazz orchestra. The first
of these took place on Sunday last, consisting
of a specially selected program of up-to-date
successes, among which" were featured S. R.
Henry's latest success "Pahjamah," "Tisho-
mingo Blues" and "Corinne."" After his New
York engagement Mr. Sweatman and his or-
chestra will probably tour the country. Jo-
seph W. Stern & Co. are the publishers of the
above numbers.
"ROSES OF ARCADIE" A SUCCESS
"Roses of Arcadie," the new song by Rachel
Story and Otto Motzan, published by the Meyer
Cohen Music Co., Inc., was recently placed on
sale. The number has been issued with a three-
color title page and is very attractive in appear-
ance. The publishers expect the number to be
as successful as their ballad "That's What God
Made Mothers For," which is steadily growing
in popularity, and from present indications their
expectations will be realized.
