Language of Broadway Into Purest English.

TREMENDOUS SENSATION
The undergraduates of Harvard University have
become quite peeved with the manner in' which
the pure English language is manhandled by popu-
lar song writers, and as a reprimand two of the
students, Samuel P. Sears and Robert Sherwood,
of the "Gold Coast," will assume the task of writ-
ing new and highly proper lyrics to the popular
songs for the benefit of their fellow students. The
first public demonstration of the remodeled songs
will take place in April, when the song writers of
Broadway will have a chance to observe how they
should do things.

New Operetta to Be Presented at Cohan
Theatre, with Mizzi Hajos in Leading Role.
"Pom Pom," the new Henry W. Savage opera,
with Mizzi Hajos in the title role, will have its
first production here a week from Monday at the
Cohan Theatre after a run of several weeks in
Boston. Miss Hajos, who plays most of the time
ir. boy's clothes, has in her company Tom Mc-
Naughton, Carl Gantvoort, Rita Dane, Edith Day,
Tom Walsh, William Eville, Charles Angelo and
others. The book is by Anne Caldwell and the
music by Hugo Felix. T. B. Harms & Francis,
Day & Hunter publish the score.
OLD HARRIS SONG COMING BACK.
'Break the News to Mother," of Spanish War

Chas. K. Harris has been particularly fortunate
with his "come back" songs and has a new num-
ber to add to his record. Frank Morrell, Sophie
Tucker and a number of other artists have been
singing "Break the News to Mother" with con-
siderable success, and numerous orders for the
song have been received from the trade. In view
of the fact that "Break the News to Mother" was
a popular hit in Spanish War days it's come back
eighteen years later is particularly interesting. A
large number of artists are also featuring the

Some Roses and You," among them being Manuel
Romaine and Matt Keiff.
