Nathanson Tokes Mexico
For Pfanstiehl
Eldeen Business
Continues Growth
WAUKEGAN-Announcement has just
been made by the Pfanstiehl Chemical
Company of the appointment of William
Nathanson, Mexico D. F. as the exclusive
distributor of the 400 play Pfanstiehl
needle for the entire Republic of Mexico.
Bill Hemminger, Sales Manager of Pfan-
stiehl in commenting on the new an-
nouncement said, "We are confident with
the appointment of Nathanson as our ex-
clusive distributor in Mexico that we can
expect some mighty fine business from this
territory.
"For quite some time we have been mak-
ing substantial shipments of Pfanstiehl
needles to operators in Mexico. Many of
these fellows have written us expressing
their great satisfaction with the greatly
superior tone of the Pfanstiehl needle, the
longer wear, and its many time-saving
features on service calls.
"However, the compliments most pre-
valent for the last few weeks have been for
the new "break in" feature of the Pfan-
stiehl needle. This feature has been made
by the recent development of a secret
process of applying an extremely high
polish to the needle point which gives the
equivalent of actually playing the needle
on four or more records.
"This further reduction in record wear
has certainly made a big hit with these
operators and they're losing no time in
letting us know about it.
"Thus with ~athanson's wide acquaint-
ance among operators in this territory and
the enthusiasm with which the needle has
already been received, the appointment
looks like a natural for some real busi-
ness."

MILWAUKEE-Business is good with
The Eldeen Company and in fact beyond
the expectation of its management. It is
now entering into the third year in the
automatic phonograph industry and by
comparison the first five months of 1940
show an increase of 142% in sales over
the first five months of the year of 1939.
This in itself is an indication of the accept-
ance by the trade of the Eldeen Maestro
Point automatic phonograph needle.
Increase of business however 'does . not
fall into a manufacturer's lap just because
he has a good product. There are many
factors that must be co-ordinated in order
to eventually lead to progress in the mar-
keting of any product. One most vital step
is to consistently advertise to create con-
sumer demand. The second is to have a
product of merit and the third to extend
cooperation to those with the channels
through which the product eventually
meets the ultimate consumer. Maestro
Point as it enters into its third year in
the phonograph industry does so as an
internationally known product. Distributors
dot the earth's surface.
"Before the outbreak of war in Europe
we had many pleasant letters with custom-
ers on the continent of Euro-pe," said Har-
old Olson. "One such letter, dated April
29th, 1940, was received here the day the
Germans attacked the fort at Liege, Bel-
gium. The letter requested a shipment of
Maestro Points and in the letter stated:
'Remembering Belgium before 1914
and seeing how we are ready now, you
can tell your American friends in all
confidence that Belgium of '14 is not
the same now. To attack us would
require two million men at this time
and we would not be beaten yet.'
"As we enter into our third year arrange-
ments for expansion are taking place and
new items are being added to the Eldeen
line. In the next several days the Eldeen
cutting needle will be announced to the
record recording branch of the industry.
The Eldeen cutting needle is an improved
Ion,- life cutting needle, marketed in indi-
vidual packages at a low price to the
consumer.''

Wurlitzer Appoints
New Dist. Manager
LOS ANGELES - Announcement was
made here the middle of June of the ap-
pointment of W. A. (Bill) Bye as District
Manager for the Rudolph Wurlitzer Com-
pany in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Bye is not new to the music business
having been connected in various capacities
for the past twenty-two years. A goodly
share of this time he has been, either
indirectly or directly, with the Wurlitzer
organization.
In the Middle West and East Bye is well
known and just recently left a District
·Managership in the Arkansas sector.
"I hated to leave my many friends in the
Middle West," said Bye commenting on his
new appointment, "but I hope to make many
new ones in the West. I am pleased with the
type of operators in this new territory and
I know working with them will be a con-
stant pleasure."
For the time being Bye is making his
headquarters at the Los Angeles and San
Francisco offices of the California Simplex
Distributing Company.
