petroleum reserves are report
ed fully ample for several gen
erations to come. New uses for
natural fibers are expected to
combat the inroads of chemi
cal, mineral, s o y b e a n and
other man-made textile mater
ials and, through greater use
of blending, bring about many
attractive new fabrics.

W a r controls will not be re
laxed overnight even after Ger
man surrender. Food rationing
may continue until the first full
European h a r v e s t has been
reaped; priority controls are to
be eased gradually to avoid dis
location ; and p r i c e controls
may yet be amended to include
“ floors” as well as “ ceilings”
to avoid any major price dis
ruption from surplus materials.

Foreign trade potentialities
are enhanced by a potential ex
port boom in foods, drugs, tex
tiles and products typical of
American ingenuity to coincide
with increased imports of basic
raw materials.
Comfort, coziness and con
venience without radical de
parture will be stressed in post
war housing, rather than the
fantastic dream houses at im
possibly low prices the public
has been led to expect. Twenty
million new homes can be built
during the first 10 years after
the war, with employment for
10,000,000 men and women in
construction a n d related in
dustries. Low cost, pre-fabri-
cated homes are to play a major
role in this development. New
lightweight heating units and
further electric appliance in
novations are also ready for the
green light on civilian produc
tion, the publication states.
