CAUTION: Know the Facts
When You Buy
Automatic Age has always
stood for fair play. It puts its
weight on equitable dealings,
for the seller and for the buy
er. Sometimes operators report
what they claim unfair advan
tage has been taken of them.
In some cases, their complaint
arises from the simple point
that they accepted implied spe
cifications of what they were
buying, and did not have a
clear understanding of w h a t
they were actually buying. In
such cases, there is l i t t l e re
course open for the operator.
Unless he makes certain that
all points are clear and accept
able to him, he leaves himself
wide open to receiving mer
chandise not exactly suited to
his needs. A seller who plays
fair should be willing to state
specifically what he offers. The
operator should get specific in
formation, otherwise he runs
the risk of getting unsuitable
merchandise. Following is a
letter received which illustrates
the advisability of doing bus
iness on facts:
Now, this is not fair. Can you
advise me what to do with mat
ter, as I can’t use this “junk.”
Yours truly,
Jack Burns.
It is a good policy to always
be specific about the quality of
merchandise ordered b e f o r e
placing an order, and especial
ly is this true when using sub
stitute merchandise. Be sure of
what kind of merchandise is to
be delivered, and on w h a t
terms, n e t weight, shipping
weight, and other factors.

DEAR EDITOR:
A few months ago (Penny
King) in Penn., quoted me a
price of 1 5 a lb. on glass
m a r b l e s of which I send a
money order for about $24.00
plus freight. On receiving same,
three bulging cartons and one
open wooden box short 13 to 15
other 3 cartons short 13 to 15
lbs. total 21 lbs. of which I paid
15l/o^ lb. Also a variation in
sizes that it is impossible to
use without 3 to 5 service calls
on each ball gum machine. I
wrote back to P. K. and was
told to go to the freight house
that brought the marbles here,
as 200 lbs. left, and they were
responsible. I don’t agree as I
still have 2 boxes UNOPENED
and no more could be put into
them, hence the short weight.
