Asked about his plans for the fall
and winter, Ray T. Maloney, presi-
dent of the Bally Manufacturing
Company, repl.ed, "Th,e public
wants something different-abso-
lutely different-in the way of pin
games, and it's our job to give the
public what it wants."
Then he took us out to the fac-
tory where, besides the regular out-
put of Ballyhoo, Ballyround, Screwy,
a nd Three-Ring Circus, production

is now in full swing on the newest
Bally game.
It's Goofy-that's its name and
that's exactly what it is-goofy!
The. playing field ·o f Goofy is dif-
ferent than t hat of any game yet
placed on the market. In stead of
a jungle of metal pins, nineteen re-
silient wooden pegs are used . These
pegs impart to the ball a peculiar
action that greatly adds to the sus-
pense. Another novel feature of
Goofy is a series of five scoring
pockets in a row, each guarded by
a free-swinging one-way gate. To
score anyone of these pockets it is

more gates without tilting the next
gate. This one-way idea ought to
prove a strong play-compeller.
The bally hole, made famo us by
Ballyhoo is used in Goofy-but used
in a new way. It is absolutely un-
guarded and thus is a powerful in-
centive to continuous play.
Probably the most fascinating and
thrilling scoring-hole on the entire
Goofy field is the 1000-hole. The
approach to this hole is a slightly in-
clined wire track.
A well-t imed
stroke brings the ball to the point
where this track rises out of the sur-
face of the field; the ball then rolls
neatly up this track and drops into
the 1000-hole.
The Goofy field provides lR scor-
ing holes, including the bally hole,
two free-play holes and one out-hole.
