AND AUTOMATIC WORLD
A TIP TO A SALESMAN
A salesman whom I'd never seen
Before, dropped in today.
Nice-looking man-was neat and clean-
Well-dressed in every way.
And he impressed me, too, as one
Who knew his line, as well;
But long before his talk was don e,
He'd spoil ed his chance to sell.
For all the time, h e swore, and swore-
Until I got so mad
I almost sh owed him to the door-
And now I wish I had.
N ow, I don't think that I'm a prude,
But still I won't deny
He got me in such a mood,
From him I'll never buy.
I'm not an angel-no, indeed-
But, sinfu l as I am,
I still can't see thel'e's any need
Of using "hell" and "damn"
To emphasize the way we feel;
And th ose who use such talk
As they attempt to close a deal
With me, will find I balk!
L'Envoi
So here's a t ip to t h ose wh o sell
A product or a plan;
Before yo u swear, or stories tell,
Be sure you know your man.
A FINAL WORD TO ALL
We want to increase the May issue of this paper to at least 32
pages . We want to enlarge every department and make it one of
the best trade journals in the field. You can help us by sending in
your subscription and ADVERTISING COPY.
The industry needs this publication. Any industry without sev~
eral good trade papers is a DEAD industry. Look up the records on
any industry in America, weed out the wide~awake ones and set aside
the dead~heads and you'll find that the dead~heads are without good
trade journals. Everyone should welcome a new trade paper into
their field when the field is really open for such a paper. It is only
narrow~minds and low~brows that look upon competition skeptically
and cry "competitive interference." Such characters lack wisdom
and are sightless so far as seeing ahead is concerned.
Weare in the field to serve and if you will help us we will help
you. We have ample equipment to print this journal, and our am~
bition and enthusiasm is overwhelming. We are expecting to hear
from you.
