PROBLEM
I read with interest an article
by Vic Fortenbach. The date of
the article was November 19,
1992. He described a failure
mode of poor focus on WG 7131
monitors utilized in Leland's
Super Off Road game.
"Hot Hits" sells excellent Com-
pact Disk compilations in
nearly every possible format
that CD juke box operators can
use. However, they sell them
in a cardboard carrier instead
of a standard "Jewel Box".
..,OLUTION
The obvious solution, of
course, is to transfer the CD to
a "Jewel Box". Since we oper-
ate only Rowe CD boxes, we
insert only the Rowe title strip
in the box. With a paper cutter
we also trim the cardboard
carrier so that it will fit inside
the box too. This works out
well, although it is difficult to
see what is in the box in our
"empty Jewel Box" library -
without handling the box.
However, we recently discov-
ered that the Seeburg title
strip is made to fit in the back-
side of the "Jewel Box", with
markings visible on the edges
too.
~'m sure most Seeburg opera-
tors have known this, but we
thought others may want to
use this packaging idea also.
Since his description of the
problem and his cure did not
seem to correlate, we decided
to give him a call to gather
further information. Through
that conversation, we have de-
termined that the problem lies
in capacitor #C57 and not C50
and/or 4 7 as described in the
article.

We have seen this problem
described to us in earlier ar-
ticles from STAR *TECH
Journal. We had written you
earlier indicating that we had
upgraded this part to a 4 7µ
farad capacitor rated at 200V
DC and 105 degrees C.
This part is available from WG
under our part #45x0580-026.
I would suggest anybody re-
pairing monitors for these
symptoms, replace the old C4 7
with this upgraded part.
