• I used 2 pieces of 3/ 16" thick lexan: 1 for the
Emitter, l for the Detector, drilling a hole in the
end of each piece to accommodate the compo-
nent that is going to be installed. Secure com-
ponent to the lexan strip with a wire tie.
• Holes will have to be drilled in the side plates to
bolt the mounting brackets and also to accom-
modate the I/R beam.
• Bolt the Emitter on one side of the foot pedal
side plate and the Detector on the opposite side
straight across from each other so that the I/R
beam will be broken by the bar in the center of
the side plates when the foot pedal is fully
depressed. Make sure the case of the
Phototransistor is insulated from the side plate.
• The LED is optional on the circuit board. It is
only a visual indication that the I/R Emitter and
Detector are working.
CONCLUSION
So far this modification has worked with no
further problems.
