Taito Chase H.Q. Foot Pedal Switch
Ricky Hill
S&M Amusements
Gray, Tennessee
PROBLEM
PROCEDURE
Car slowing down or stopping while playing
game.
• Solder wires to the legs of the 1/R Emitter and
the Phototransistor. Note that the base of the
Phototransistor will need to be cut off as it will
not be used.
CAUSE
The reason for this is usually because the
microswitch on the foot pedal assembly is out of
adjustment or bad. After making several trips of
200 miles each to adjust or replace the
microswitch, there had to be a better way than
using a microswitch.
• Use 1/16" shrink tubing to cover solder con-
nections and to insulate the legs from their
respective cases when they are bent over.

SOLUTION
I decided to try an 1/R Emitter and Detector to do
the job of the microswitch. After mounting the
components on a piece of perfboard, I added the
power wires and output wires and mounted the
board to the side of the cabinet beside the foot
pedal assembly.
