umn will show that switch, along with the
switch on the Column that it is shorted to, on
the Row of the switch you are closing.
shorted together, switch-test will show the
switch that is at the intersection of the Row
and Column as being closed, even though it
is not closed. All other switches on all Rows
and Columns will function correctly.
Example: Columns 2 and 5 are shorted
together at an unknown point. Closing
switch 14 (which is on Column 2) will show
switches 14 and 38 (which is on Column 5).
Example: Column 2 and Row 7 wires are
shorted to each other. Switch 15 will show as
being closed even though it is not closed.
Remember, switch 15 is NOT causing the
problem.
Case 5: Row Wires Shorted Together
When two Row wires are shorted together
and no switches are closed, switch-test
shows no closed switches.
Case 7: Open Diode on Switch
An open diode on a switch will cause only
that one switch to be ignored.
With two Row wires are shorted together,
pressing any switch on either Row will show
that switch along with the switch on the Row
that it is shorted to on the Column of the
switch you are closing.
Case 8: Shorted Diode on Switch
A shorted diode on a switch will show no
problem when just that switch is closed.
However, closing the switch with the shorted
diode along with other switches in that Row
and switches in another Column may,
(depending on which switches are simulta-
neously being closed) result in additional
false switch readings in switch-test. (Can
you say that three times at 5 MHz with no
wait states?)
Example: Rows 3 and 7 are shorted together.
~ Closing switch number 35 will show both 35
(which is on Column 5) and 39 (which is on
Column 5).
Case 6: Column & Row Wire Shorted Together
When a Column wire and a Row wire are
