PROBLEM
The new thin DIP (Dual Inline Package) 24
and 28 pin SRAMs that are being used on
many of the newer boards are sometimes a
little scarce, or are not even stocked by some
distributors and parts houses, but don't
despair!
PROBLEM
Display doesn't light.
SOLUTION
Just bend the legs of a standard size wire-
wrap socket inward, and then solder them to
sockets that match the smaller outline. You
.
en have an adapter that will allow you to
use full sized chips. I recommend the use of
machined type sockets to ensure a snug fit
if the original part was socketed.
NOTE
A 16- and an 8-pin socket can be used to
create a thin-line 24-pin, and two 14's to
make the 28.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
Rl, a 1 thousand ohm resistor at 2 watts
which serves as the current limiter for the -
15vdc supply circuit on the display board,
may have opened up, or may open up a short
time after turning the game on.
NOTE
Two conditions may occur: Rl may be open
all of the time even when the game is off, or
Rl may open up a short time after power on.
