MANIA CHALLENIB has been an excellent game
for earnings. Unfortunately, the kit is Ir\Y
pick for the "worst operating kit" for
1986.
'!be problens are conpounded in high volume
locations. '!be game has two coin switches
going to one coin input. If two people
deposit a coin at the same time, one
player will loose his coin.
'!be board has two coin inputs. Nowhere are
there directions for wiring the second
coin input (AlO). If the coins are a
fraction of a second apart, the game will
lock up and/or display double images.
'!be Jobber/Mfg sent out a phony service
bulletin stating that the coin input
should be 16 to 70 milliseconds'? They
stated that the coin switch should be
,,......, adjusted to this short pulse!
'Ibis shows me a general lack of knowledge
in the Coin Machine Industry. They also
told me that it was just about i.npossible
to drop 2 coins at the same time.
NJTES:
Coin 2 is connector position AlO.
Coin Counter 2 is connector position All.
Coin settings are same as manual
indicates.
The main reason we buy from reputable
sources is for service back-up. I feel
that these people let down the operator.
(Talk about frustration! The owner of the
conpmy never returned Ir\Y calls, and their
head of service hung up on me.)
Their coin hookup will disable one coin
chute if the other has a hung coin switch.
They stated in their bulletjn that this
phony circuit is necessary as part of
their anti-copy feature? '!heir input is a
pulse extender that activates as the coin
is released.
A few parts make a one-shot circuit
this mess. Following the directions
will make this game work correctly.
Jobber/Mfg is making available new
software to conpensate for the coin
error. It does not take care of the
coins at one time problem, however.

the way, Menetron' s SHAroHAI KID also
has problens. If the game locks-up and
goes to test, you may need a new Z-80 &
Rom to replace the black box, (used for
copyright protection).
