A programnable video-timing controller
from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. generates
the synchronization signals for a
high-resolution graphics display system
and CRI' ronitor. With a clock rate of 125
MHz, the Sunnyvale, Cal if. , company's
Arn8158 is suitable for bit-mapped graphics
systems supporting resolutions of 1,024 by
1,024 pixels or rrore. Thanks to nine
prograrrmable registers on chip, users can
program the nurrber of pixels per rnerrory
access, the nurrber of rnerrory accesses per
scan line, the nurrber of scan lines per
frame, and the pulse widths of the
synchronization signals for the CRI'
rronitor and the system. The controller is
available now in 28-pin ceramic DIPs for
$38.60 in lots of 100 pieces.
