POLE POSITION HEAT CURE
By Ruble Sanderson, Appalachian Game Service, Kingsport, TN
Over

Circuits
We had problems with the Atari Pole Positions
going out as a result of overheating, particularly
in locations without air conditioning. The metal
box containing the logic board holds heat like
an oven and got so hot you could not hold your
hand on it
As can be seen in the accompanying photos,
the problem was solved with a metal cutting
sabre saw. Manufacturers should allow more
space for air movement around these boards.

Editor's Note: This modification may solve
one problem, but it may also introduce another:
RFI radiation violating recent FCC regulations
for computing devices. Anyone considering
modifying their board cages should contact
the manufacturer first before proceeding.
