MAGNAVOX FM, A FLEXIBLE SALES TOOL
The merchandising of Frequency Modulation receivers has been
greatly complicated by the present limitations of this service. Ac-
tually, many purchases of radios and phonographs have been post-
poned to await the further local development of FM broadcasts.
The handling of the FM receiver by Magnavox has solved both
dealers' and customers' problems alike. For maximum efficiency
the Magnavox FM receiver is a separate 11-tube chassis with its
own tuning dial and tuning indicator. Several of the Magnavox
models are provided with a shelf or pocket in the cabinet for the
installation of this FM chassis. With these instruments the FM
chassis may be installed at the factory during assembly of the
instrument, or it may be installed by the dealer at a later date. In
the illustration, the FM dial and chassis are shown mounted above
the AM dial and chassis in the Magnavox Chippendale Symphony.
The purchaser of such an instrument is fully protected against the
obsolesence of his set through the general acceptance of FM as
the standard medium of broadcast.
For instruments which do not have space provided for the FM
chassis a record cabinet of Georgian design has been created in
which the special chassis may be mounted. It is then connected to
the combination bv means of a small cable.

ELECTROVOX COMPANY, 424 Madison Avenue, New-
York City, announce the WN-55 WALCO S A P P H I R E
NEEDLE for low-pressure pickups. This new genuine jewel
stylus has been developed in conjunction with the engineers of
several large radio-phonograph manufacturers who are adopting
it as standard equipment on their new model phonographs and
combinations. The specifications of this new Waleo needle include
a genuine sapphire point mounted in a straight duralumin shank.
The shank has two parellel in-cut flats ground near the tip to pro-
vide a lateral flexibility which eliminates "needle talk" and mini-
mizes surface noise. The shank also has a flat on its upper ex-
tremity for the set screw. This automatically insures correct
positioning in the pickup when used as a replacement. The needle
is specifically designed for pickups having needle pressure of 2
ounces or less and at one ounce pressure will give approximately
12,000 playings before it must be replaced.
Radio and music dealers, and servicemen, will find interest and
real utility in the latest sales aid offered with W'alco Genuine
Sapphire Needles. This takes the form of a dispenser-display
card which, on counter or shelf, functions continuously as a silent
salesman and carries its own supply of a dozen of these sapphire
needles stapled on its face.

York City. Suitable for use with any types of microphones or
loudspeakers, this amplifier makes it a simple matter to build up
a complete sound system to meet any requirements. All needed
accessories are available in the complete Lafayette line and these
can be supplied with all necessary cables and plugs for the utmost
speed and simplicity in setting up the equipment.
The input connections of the amplifier permit simultaneous
use of up to four microphones, with individual volume control for
each. Additional connections also provide for two record players.
Front-panel controls include five for regulating the volume of
the individual input circuits, one for control of overall volume
and one each for regulating the bass and treble response.
Four dynamic loudspeakers are usually employed if the full 45-
vvatt (65-watt, peak) output of this amplifier is to be utilized but
output connections are such as to permit the use of fewer or more
as conditions require.
