WALTHAM PRESIDENT ENCOURAGED
Earl T. Netzow, president of the Waltham Piano
Co., is confident of better times in piano manufac-
turing and has absolute faith in his industry. The
Waltham Piano Co. made very satisfactory shipments
all through the month of July; in fact, the six months
ending July 31 were far better than a year ago. Mr.
Netzow feels assured of continued and increasing ac-
tivity in the music business, and in an interview with a
Presto-Times correspondent one day last week, re-
ferred to conditions in many other lines of manufac-
ture and remarked that the piano business is far more
fortunate than many other branches of industry. "If,"
says Mr. Netzow, "the piano business were alone in
retard, then we would feel like making drastic
changes in our establishment, but conditions in the
piano trade are really better than in many other lines
and we are encouraged not only to keep business
moving steadily but intend to start manufacturing
still more actively for the coming fall and winter
season." The Waltham company is now engaged
solely in piano manufacturing, having discontinued
radio and phonograph making, and have given up
entirely the sale of radio receiving sets in their Mil-
waukee store and in all their retail business.
The development of the radio has created and is
still creating a whole group of new businesses. And
the end is not yet in sight, either in business and
industry, or the widespread use and enjoyment of
music, which since the coming of the radio has been
popularized as never before.
