greater during the first 11 months of 1928 than during
the entire year 1927, according to U. S. Vice Consul
J. F. Burt, Rio de Janeiro A recent increase of 37
per cent or $803,712, is shown in contrasting the two
periods. Phonograph imports accounted for over half
of the increase. The United States is the leading
supplier of phonographs and phonograph records and
accessories. Brazilian import statistics show that 61
per cent of the phonographs and 83 per cent of the
records imported state that this high percentage was
maintained during 1928.
The increased imports of phonograph records are
worthy of note, inasmuch as an unusually large num-
ber of records were made in Brazil during 1928 by
subsidiaries of American and European companies.
