Victrolas. A circulating library is included in the
store, carrying at present about 350 volumes, which
will be increased if the demand justifies it.

The Society of Arts and Sciences has awarded to
Thomas Alva Edison the 1928 gold medal, it was
announced last week by Walter Russell, president of
that society. This is the first time any living scientist
has been recognized by the society, which has hitherto
