John Golden Brings Latest Success to Chicago April
9 with Muni Wisenfrend in Star Role.
Acknowledged one of the most interesting produc-
tions made in New York this season, "4 Walls," John
Golden's latest dramatic offerings, comes to the Adel-
phi Theater, Chicago, beginning Monday night, April
9, after a run of twenty weeks in Manhattan.
"4 Walls" is a gripping, thrilling, powerful drama
of gangster life on the Lower East Side of New York,
written by Dana Burnet and George Abbott, the lat-
ter well-known as the co-author of "Broadway." Mr.
Abbott also staged the play for John Golden. It has
conmanded unusual interest and review recognition
from many of the ablest writers of the day for its
sencere and penetrating study of the forces which
tug and pull in the bosom of an ex-convict who is
determined to "go straight."
Mr. Golden has kept intact the original cost, which
is headed by Muni Wisenfrend. who was drafted from
the Jewish Art Theater ior the big role of "Benny
Horow tz" and whose sterling performance has mer-
ited the most fulsome praise extended to any young
acter on Broadway during the past decade.
The cast is large, numbering thirty speaking ro'es.
Besides Muni Wisenfrend, important roles are in the
hands of ejanne Greene, Bella Finkle, Averell Harris,
Clara I angsner, Edward Keane, James C. Lane and
acob Frank.
