Noted Musician Killed by Gas.
Harry Simonovicz, aged 51 years, who was first
violin in the New York Symphony Orchestra under
Walter Damrosch, and later was concert ballet master
for Pavlowa, the Russian dancer, was killed by acci-
dental gas poisoning on Sunday of this week in his
home, 14 Catherine street, Elizabeth, N. J. He had
been taking a nap and in his sleep had kicked off the
hose from the gas heater. On the piano lay the
musician's favorite violin, bow and music. Mr. Si-

saw and Leipzig, and was known on both sides of
the Atlantic as an exceptional musician and leader.
lie was the fifth generation of his family to carry
on the line's traditional love for music, and it has
descended to his sons, one of whom, Julius Simono-
vicz, is a ce'.list living in Baltimore.
Pianist C. V. Lachmund Dies.
Carl V. Lachmund, 70 years old, died at midnight
Monday of this week at his home, 230 Valentine
Lane, Yonkers, N. Y. Mr. Lachmund was a dis-
tinguished composer, pianist and musical instructor.
He was one of the few remaining pupils of Franz
Liszt at Weimar.
Radio Manufacturers Meet.

The monthly meeting and luncheon of the Radio
Manufacturers' Association was held at the Hotel
Commodore Februay 24. The speaker was John V. L.
llogan, radio engineer, who talked on "Highlights in
the Development of Radio from an Engineering
Viewpoint." He also answered several technical ques-
tions asked by his interested audience.
The Hayes Music Co., 426 Superior street, Toledo,
Ohio, which suffered a heavy loss in the recent tire
in the building, has resumed business next door.
