HISTORIC OLD HARPSICHORD
Notable Example of Art Dated 1768 Now Object of
Interest in Brambach Showroom.
One of the most interesting articles disposed of
from the valuable art collection of the late Mrs. Wil-
liam Solomon at the American Art Galleries recently
was a Louis XV gilded and decorated harpsichord,
by C. F. Laescke, Amsterdam 1768. After much
spirited bidding this historic instrument was pur-
chased by Mark P. Campbell for the Brambach Piano
Company of New York City.
The harpsichord, in remarkably fine condition, con-
sidering its "age, possesses' a body lightly gilded and
decorated on the exterior with frames of endive
scro'ling hung with festoons of blossoms, and rococo
lattice motives; its cabriole legs are handsomely en-
riched with floral ornament at the knees. The inte-
rior of the cover and yie music rest is painted with
romantic landscapes, including figures, and on the
sounding board are scattered stems of flowers. The
dimensions''are: Height, 36 inches; length, 6 feet 5
inches; width, 33 inches.
This interesting old instrument now holds a place
of prominence in the factory show-room of the Bram-
bach Piano Company, illustrating ni vivid fashion the
remarkable progress made during the past two hun-
dred years in the construction of pianos—the harpsi-
chord typifying the spirit of yesteryear—the exquisite

ADDS TO PIANO LINE.
The Williams' Music Store, Shelbyville, Ind., an-
nounced this week that it had secured the local agency
for the Steinway piano and also for the C. Kurtz-
mann piano. The addition of these pianos to those
already carried by the store offers local buyers an
opportunity to purchase the best pianos of any class.
A CHEERFUL VIEW.
Julius A. White, vice-president of Kohler & Camp-
bell, Inc., New York, when called upon by Presto-
Times' New York representative on Tuesday of this
week, said: "The trade outlook is growing brighter
all the time."
