42ND YEAR
THE WORLD RENOWNED
ARTISTS SHOW THEIR
PREFERENCES FOR THE
STEIN WAY
PIANO
Josef Hoffman reflected the attitude of the conscientious
artist towards his chosen instrument when he wrote:
/ play the Steinway piano because it gives
my audiences the greatest pleasure. If
anything goes Wrong with my recitals I
know it is in me and not in the Steinway.
There is a richness in Steinway tone, an individuality not found
in another piano. The support it gives the voice and the solo
instrument is frequently referred to as a counterpart, just as the
pianist feels that his Steinway is his other self.
