Grigsby-Grunow-Hinds Company, Chicago, Places

After over a year of

work, during which the
most e x a c t i n g tests
were conducted with all
types of radio receivers,
the Majestic "A" Cur-
rent Supply has heen
placed on the market
by Grigsby-G r u n o w-

for radio, which are giving the greatest satisfaction
to the public, Grigsby-Grunow-Hinds Company pur-
posely withheld production of its "A" unit until there
was every possible assurance that the most rigid
tests could give that the Majestic "A" would stand
the gaff under every normal condition imposed
upon it.
The Majestic "A" Current Supply furnishes full
strength and permanent "A" power direct from the
light socket for radio sets of from five to eight tubes,
including power tube. Majestic "A" is absolutely
"dry" in construction, using no acids or liquids what-
ever. It has no hum when in operation.
The maximum output of Majestic "A" is 2 ^ amps
at 6 volts. For best results a Jewell 589 direct cur-
rent voltmeter is recommended for determining the
proper setting of the voltage regulator. A receptacle
is provided on the front panel of "A" for plugging in
"B" supply, so that both "A" and " B " units are

operated with one light socket connection. There
is a convenient switch on cord of "A" unit which
controls both sources of power supply. It is essen-
tial that set be left turned on at all times. The
switch controlling the "A" and " B " units, therefore,
acts also as a control for the set, in other words for
entire radio outfit.
In general construction and dependability the Ma-
jestic "A" supply is similar to Majestic "B." The
rectifier used in the Majestic "A" is of the dry plate
type, which has been in use for several years in bat-
tery charging devices, and has all of the operating
characteristics necessary to insure dependability as
well as long life.
The company announces it will erect a large addi-
tion to the present plant, which will more than dou-
ble the present floor space. At the present time the
Majestic Company not only is the largest manufac-
turers of dry "A" and "B" power units for radio
sold through the wholesale and retail trade, but also
manufactures power equipment for many leading
manufacturers of complete A. C. radio receivers.
