Woodlawn branch of Lyon & Healy, Chicago, gives
this great music house the largest and finest music
store on the South Side of Chicago.
The interior is finished in a crackle antique ivory,
while the exterior is of verdi marble and wrought
iron. The windows are unique in that a complete
view of the store is possible as the backgrounds are
decorative wrought iron grill work between Moorish
columns.
The 5,000 square feet of tloor space—just twice
that contained in the former establishment—gives
ample room adequately to display a complete line
of fine grand pianos, including the Steinway and
the Lyon & Healy Apartment Grand. Phonographs,
radios and combinations, band and string instruments,
records and sheet music are all attractively displayed.
Lyon & Healy branch stores are to be found in all
three of Chicago's rapidly growing business areas,
north, south and west, beyond the downtown district.
Each carries the same merchandise and provides the
same service that has made the great main Lyon &
Healy retail establishment one of Chicago's outstand-
ing institutions.
enterprise of B. J. Palmer, one of southern Oregon's
first music stores.
After 25 years as a music merchant, eight in South
Dakota and 17 years in Oregon, Mr. Palmer will
step aside and Palmer's Music Store will be owned
and managed by three young, successful Medford
people. He will now center his attention on the
management of his real estate interests and devote
his time to the direction of the Commercial Finance
Corporation of Medford, a new enterprise of which
he is president.

Announcement is made by the music firm of Lang
Brothers, 439 South Michigan street, South Bend,
Ind., of the appointment of E. A. Duker as manager
of its piano department.
For a number of years Mr. Duker was affiliated
with the firm of Rogers & Wilson, Goshen, Ind.
Following this, he became manager of a music house
in Mishawaka. From 192.1 to 1925 he managed the
firm of Friedrich Music House at Grand Rapids,
Mich.
For the past year Mr. Duker has been conducting
a music house of his own at 120 West Colfax avenue,
the stock of this house recently having been bought
by the Lang Brothers. Langs recently have added
to their stock in the piano department the Kimball
and Chickering Ampicos, with which Mr. Duker is
particularly well acquainted. Mr. Duker is a mem-
ber of the Lions' club.

experience in the music business in and near Med-
ford, and has many friends who are predicting
marked success for his venture.
Much of Mr. Isaac's time has been devoted to
Chamber of Commerce and American Legion activi-
ties and he was instrumental in the organization of
an exceptionally fine Legion drum corps composed
of members ol" the Medford Post. Musical organi-
zations in schools, c'ubs and Boy Scouts are being
planned by Air. Isaac and a piano playing contest
for next season is listed among his projects for 1928-
The year's program o f musical instruments produc-
tion in Russia has been approved at a total value
of ?,()<)0,C0O roubles—a little over $1,000,000. The
number of hands engaged in this industry is put at
700. The various government departments interested
ha\c decided to organize the industry by concentra-
tion of effort, and by mechanization of producing
processes, particularly in regard to accordions and
wind instruments. Economy in production will be a
special study. The question of organizing peasant-
production of musical instruments is also being con-
sidered.
