DUKE EXPRESSES DELIGHT
AT AMPICO ON SHIPBOARD
Letter from Duke of York Tells of Pleasures Derived
from Instrument on Australian Voyage.
The Duke and Duchess of York, who have just
returned to England from their Australian tour, have
written to Ampico, Ltd., London, expressing the
satisfaction and pleasure derived from the presence
of the Ampico on board the "Renown." The instru-
ment was placed on board at the request of their
royal highnesses, and with it a large collection of
recordings of the great pianists and American popular
music.
Upon their return to England P. K. Hodgson, pri-
vate secretary to the duke, was instructed to write
to Ampico, Ltd., to say how much the Ampico was
enjoyed by the duke and duchess and members of
their staff.
This is not the first time that the Ampico has been
heard on the "Renown." When the Prince of Wales
made his first visit to America it was on this same
ship, and the Ampico was put aboard when she was
in New York harbor. It was subsequently removed
at the end of the tour, together with others of the
Prince's personal belongings.
DEMONSTRATING THE MELODY WAY.
The W. Otto Miessner's master class at the Chi-
cago College of Music, Chicago, is an interesting
activity of the institution. A picture of the class
issued by the Miessner Institute of Music, Milwaukee,
shows seated a class of children used in demon-
strating the Melody Way Plan of Piano Instruction
as taught by Mr. Miessner during the six weeks'
summer school just completed.
