CAPITOL WORD ROLLS FOR JULY
SALES IN EVANSVILLE, IND.
Band Instrument Dealers in Lively City See Increased
Business in New Bands.
Band instrument dealers at Evansville, Ind., report
that trade has been about as good this year as for the
corresponding year up to this time, in spite of the
bad weather conditions that have prevailed. The
organization of new bands in southern Indiana, south-
ern Illinois and western and northern Kentucky has
greatly stimulated business with the music houses at
Evansville.
A. V. Weyerbacher's Cadet Band of Evansville,
Ind., gave a concert at Garvin's Park in that city on
Sunday afternoon, June 19th. This was the last ap-
pearance of the band in its home city before leaving
for its annual northwestern tour. The band is com-
posed of students from all the city schools of Evans-
ville. This will be the seventh annual tour of the band.

SMILE SONG INFLUENCES MAYOR
Smile Week in Baltimore is Result and Sale of Song
is Boosted Immensely.
"Smile and Keep A-Smiling" is the name of a new
song with words and music by Henry Edward War-
ner and published by the Chas. E. Root Music Com-
pany, Battle Creek, Mich.
Said he was inspired by the new Root song, Mayor
Wm. F. Broening, Baltimore, Md., its joyous op-
timism, issued a proclamation calling all the people
of Baltimore to celebrate the first week in June as
"Smile Week." The Mayor says, "I'd like to see a
complete adoption of the idea of individual good hu-
mor. I'd like to see Baltimore turned into Happy-
land for just one solid week, and I believe 40 per
cent of the good humor will become a habit."
The following verse expresses the sentiment:
Smile, smile, smile and keep a-smil-ing,
Till you've got the world a-smiling with you.
Laugh, laugh, laugh and keep a-laugh-ing
Till you see what laughing will do.
Luck won't play—
With an-y one who's al-vvays scowl-ing;
Luck won't stay—
With an-y one who's always growl-ing.
Smile, smile, smile and keep a-smil-ing,
Till you've got the world a-smil-ing with you.
