Period Drapery & Mfg. Co. Has Proposition for
Dealers Designed to Stimulate Quick Money.
The Period Drapery & Mfg. Co, New Albany,
Ind., manufacturers and jobbers of piano scarfs,
drapes, bench pads, piano shawls, upholstered bench
tops, table runners, pillows and imported tape&tries,
has a proposition that should interest music dealers.
It is a plan to stimulate payments on instalment
sales and encourage the increase of down payments
on new accounts. It will influence delinquent cus-
tomers to make payments.
The Period Drapery & Mfg. Co.'s offer is a service
of commodities to be used as gifts by dealers for
stimulating payments. One is a beautiful piano bench
cushion to be given to a customer for an advanced
payment of $50 on his account. A piano drape, an
art silk runner and imported wall tapestries are other
articles designed for a similar purpose.
The service which the company is advertising in
a vigorous way is in a selection of 24 articles, to-
gether with 200 order blanks and 200 order books
with the dealer's name and address printed thereon.
The price for the order is an alluring one.
The order comprises six assorted piano bench cush-
ions, made of delicate shades of plain plush, brocaded
velour and flowered -tapestry, standard size 15x36
inches; six piano scarfs, assorted plain plush, bro-
caded velour, flowered tapestry, size about 18x80
inches over all; six art silk table runners, assorted
colors and patterns. These are distinctively different
and find an appropriate setting in any home. Size
about 18x50 inches.
Six imported wall tapestries, size about 19x57
inches. These are in popular demand. During the
past few years there has been a remarkable advance
in the art of interior decorating, in which wall tapes-

About 700,000 pounds of wool of the "Borse pool"
remaining unsold after Jan. 1 were disposed of by
several bids to be opened at the end of this month.
Skins, specially selected and tanned and adapted to
the making of saxophone pads, are now being pre-
pared by the specialty leather house of T. L. Lut-
kins, Inc , 40 Spruce street, New York.
AMERICAN REPRESENTATIVES WANTED.
German manufacturer of musical toys priced at ten,
twenty-five and fifty cents and one dollar, desires to
appoint two sales representatives in the United States,
one who makes a specialty of visiting wholesale
houses and importers and one for department stores.

0. M. MADDOCKS TAKES COURSE
Piano Sounding Board Maker from Julius Breckwoldt
& Son Studies Kiln Drying.
The wood-fabricating shops of the Mississippi Val-
ley furnished most of the enrollments in the U. S.
Forest Products Laboratory's forty-fifth short course
in the kiln drying of lumber, which ended in Madi-
son, Wis., January 21. Twelve of the men in attend-
ance were from various wood using industries. One
student was entered by the forest service of Mexico,
one of the other four men registered is engaged in
the manufacture of piano sounding-boards, O. M.
Maddocks, of Julius Breckwoldt & Son, Inc., Dolge-
ville, N. Y.
Although the exact dates of the spring kiln drying,
gluing and boxing and crating courses have not been
decided, several enrollments for the next kiln drying
course are already on file.
PYRALIN BEAUTIFIES DRUMS.
A well-known manufacturer of drummers' supplies
is now using pearl-colored Pyralin on the sides of
drums. In addition to greatly enhancing the beauty
of the drum, it has been found through experiments
that the resonant qualities of this material adds greatly
to the tone of the instrument.
CHANGE IN DALLAS, TEXAS.
The T. E. Swann Co., Dallas, Tex., which recently
purchased the stock, fixtures and goodwill of Sanger
Bros., Inc., talking machine jobbers, will continue
the business at the same location as before, 801-805
Elm street. Lester Burchfield, vice-president and
Conrad A. Peters is the general manager of the general manager of the Swann organization, is in
new Galveston Piano Co. at 2015 Market street, Gal- charge and has retained the entire sales force of
Sanger Bros.
