On Dec. 12 the Interstate Commerce Commission
Will Accept Filing of Briefs.
The hearing in the matter of the suspension by the
Interstate Commerce Commission of the increased
phonograph and radio freight rates, attempted by the
eastern railroads, was held in Washington on Thurs-
day and Friday, November 5 and 6, before Examiner
Harriman.
The case for the shippers was handled by Joseph
C. Colquitt, Traffic Attorney of Washington, who
was retained by the Music Industries Chamber of
Commerce, and the witnesses for the shippers in-
cluded the following members of the Chamber's Traf-
fic Committee: William H. Lockwood, Brunswick-
Balke-Collender Company; Theodore A. Reed, Victor
Talking Machine Company, and V. F. Varin, Sonora
Phonograph Company.
December 12 was set as the date on which the
attorneys will file their briefs. It is thought that the
decision will not be handed down by the Commission
much before February 1, which is the end of the
period of suspension.
ANNOUNCES CHANGE OF NAME.
The name of Stumpf & Thiess, musical merchan-
dise case manufacturers, 677 Springfield avenue, New-
ark, N. J., has been changed to the American Case
Co. The company makes a varied line of banjo,
mandolin and ukulele cases.
