The struggle for attention in advertising is so keen

Robert Selander, Slingerland Representative in Far
West Territory, Tells of Favor for Line.
Robert Selander, who represents the Slingerland
Banjo Co., Chicago, in the Far West, was in San
Francisco recently where he booked some fine orders
for the May Bell line. "The banjo is becoming one
of the liveliest sellers in the musical merchandise line
and the opportunities for the sale of the instrument
are found in the smaller towns as well as the big
cities," according to Mr. Slingerland, who added:
"The Slingerland instruments are widely favored be-
cause they have earned a character for high quality at
a reasonable price."
The trade likes the Slingerland line because it
offers them good profits. The May Bell banjo is
appreciated by the professional and the amateur be-
cause they possess the tonal qualities that satisfy the
artist. The great range in the styles also is a deter-
mining factor in the choice of the Slingerland line
by the far western dealers visited by Mr. Selander.
He offers them over forty styles of banjos, banjo
mandolins, tenor banjos and banjo ukuleles to select
from.
SUCCESS WITH BAND GOODS.

band instruments advertising in a lively holiday de-
mand. R. L. Frye and S. H. Blood are proprietors
of this prosperous business which they .established
last April. They specialize in band and orchestra
instruments and music. A repair department operated
by experts is a notable feature of the business.
A CLEVELAND CELEBRATION.
L. Meier & Son, Cleveland, is celebrating the
twenty-eighth anniversary of the founding of the
business. The company is an active Victor repre-
sentative and does a prosperous business in two
stores, one at Clark avenue and West Forty-fourth
street, and the other at West Twenty-fifth street and
Archwood avenue.
