cessful Music Stores
oA Simple Viano ^Merchandising Truth
that has escaped so many
Piano (^Merchants
HE backbone of most sue
cessful piano businesses is
the Upright. More Uprights
are being sold today than
any other type of piano, even in face of
the general rising popularity of Grands,
Players and Reproducing Pianos.
The family which is buying a musical
instrument for the first time usually
chooses the Upright. Later on, when cir-
cumstances permit, the Upright is traded
in for a Grand or a Player.
The more Upright Pianos a dealer sells,
the greater will be his Grand and Player
business. It will follow as a matter of
natural course that this business will take
care of itself with but negligible effort.
Promote the Idea of 'Music
The best way for a piano dealer to enjoy
increased volume and profits is to keep
his eyes peeled for Upright sales. Seek
out the homes which are without a piano
of any kind. Promote the idea of music
in the home. Point out the advantages
of having the children study music. Cre'
ate a market for more pianos by selling
the music'in'every'home idea.
The home of moderate means is the log'
ical market for the Upright. It is the mass
market—the volume market. Out of this
vast market will automatically come the
Grand and Player sales. But concentrate
some of your effort on the Upright and
the idea of music in every home.
Replete with Qrands and Players, the Cable Line in the
Upright field is supreme
