Arno Zinke, owner of the East Side Music Co.,
Milwaukee, is responsible for this artistic display of
Q R S rolls. Mr. Zinke has had a very eventful
musical career, having been a school orchestra direc-
tor at the age of eleven, later organizing the mail car-
riers' band of Milwaukee.
This undertaking prompted Mr. Zinke to venture
forth in the retail music field. From the start he has
appreciated the value of concentrating on effective
window displays, confining each display to one musi-
cal item, thus bringing home to his customers the
true value of each article featured.
Sales of Q R S rolls were materially increased at
the time of the above display.
SCHAEFFER HISTORY TOLD
IN HANDSOME BROCHURE
so carefully and scientifically constructed that pure
tonal quality, easy touch and durability are insured
to the purchaser.
The beauty of Schaeffer pianos, both in design and
finish, wins the admiration of the most discriminating
lover of fine cabinets and there is a model in keeping
with every home from the tiny Studio upright model
for tiny rooms to the magnificent Reproducing
Period Model Grands designed for the most palatial
menage.
First Produced in New York City in 1873, the
Schaeffer Piano Has Maintained Its Posi-
tion Among Fine Instruments.
The Schaeffer Piano Mfg. Co., 209 South State
street, Chicago, has released a handsome brochure
to the trade that contains interesting facts concern-
ing the history of the Schaeffer instrument. Estab-
lished over a half-century ago, Schaeffer pianos have
been recognized throughout the trade as instruments
of fine quality. The experience embodied in the
Schaeffer piano is told in the booklet as follows:
Wm, Schaeffer, the founder of the Schaeffer Piano,
was born in Wiirttenburg, Germany, and learned the
art of piano making under the tutelage of Schied-
mayer at Stuttgart, and later pursued his vocation
with Pleyel-Wolff & Co., in Paris, both famous old
world piano makers. Thoroughly grounded in the
basic principles of piano-building, he came to Amer-
ica and applied his art and skill in the factory of
Steinway & Sons.
In 1873, he began to build the Schaeffer Piano in
a humble way in a small factory at 472 West Forty-
third street, New York City, where he produced the
Schaeffer piano scale, and was one of the very first
to successfully manufacture and market upright
pianos.
In 1878, Wm. Schaeffer, proud of his achievements,
exhibited the product of his genius at the Paris
Exposition which won for him the Diploma of
Honor.
New York being so distant from the best materials
necessary to the building of fine pianos, the Schaeffer
business was moved to Chicago in 1888.
Today Schaeffer pianos have gained an enviable
reputation in the world of music and the name
"Schaeffer" on a piano is recognized as a guarantee
of quality.
It can be truthfully said that Schaeffer pianos are

SPECIAL BRAMBACH EXHIBIT
BY LYON & HEALY, CHICAGO
Forceful Advertising and Window Displays Aid in
Boosting Sales of This Instrument.
The house of Lyon & Healy, Chicago, has launched
a special sales campaign in connection with the an-
nual exhibit of the Brambach grand. Special adver-
tising, in which the merits of the Brambach grand
are exploited, has resulted in a larger volume of trade
than anticipated by the retail sales department. The
window exhibits have also obtained direct results.
Of the dozen or more windows facing Wabash and
Jackson, r the Brambach grand is presented in every
other w indow. Placards accompanying the piano on
exhibit, and also in the warerooms where there is a
fine showing of the instrument, bear out the eloquent
testimonials of this popular baby grand.
A few of the suggestions made are: "Beautify
your home with a Dainty Brambach Baby Grand";
"Just a Tiny Corner Is Required for the Beautiful
Brambach Baby Grand," and "The Brambach is an
Instrument of Quality Since 1823."
BANKRUPT STOCK SOLD.
The public auction of the H. B. Bruck & Sons Co.
bankrupt stock in Cleveland, O., took place on June
IS and the new instruments were purchased by the
Seabury Piano Co., the used ones being disposed of
in lots to other dealers.
