A reduction in freight rates on drums is proposed
Boys' Week activities are held in May in Philadel-
in docket No. 22 of the Consolidated Classification phia, according to the plans of Mayor Kendrick and
Committee. The request was made to the railroads
the Boy Council. This organization was formed
by Lyon & Healy, Chicago, after consultation with three years ago for the purpose of bringing all boy

case will be argued in the name of the Chamber.
Drums now take three times first-class rate, and it
is proposed to reduce this to double first-class rate.
The present rate is so high as to compel almost all
shipments, except those for export, to be made by
express or parcel post. While drums shipped by ex-
press can be packed in pasteboard cartons, wooden
boxes are necessary in freight shipments which add
considerably to the weight.
The eastern hearings were scheduled in New York
for April 14th and in Chicago April 21st.

FROM THE BIGGEST
ORCHESTRION
A new folder of the Martin Band Instrument Com-
pany, Elkhart, Ind., describes some of the salable
brass instruments produced. Martin baritones,
double-bell euphoniums, French horns, mellophones,
band and ballad horns and band and orchestra horns
are shown in artistic colored pictures and described
in detail in a convincing way. The Martin 50-year
guarantee is printed:
"Martin Handcraft baritones, in addition to their
wonderful tone and admitted musical and mechanical
excellence, are backed by a 50-year guarantee against
defect in material or workmanship. In other words,
you get complete horn insurance against defect when
you buy a Martin Handcraft instrument. It would
not be possible to cover Martin Handcraft instru-
ments with such a broad and generous warranty were
the makers not absolutely sure of the high quality
and honesty of their materials and workmanship.
You get in a Martin an instrument on which you can
do your best work. Yet you pay no extra premium
for Martin superiority.
"It will surely pay you to look up the Martin
dealer in your town or write the factory and arrange
for a trial."
