Greater Interest in Musical Merchandise Shows in
New Stores and Old Ones.
Robinson's Department Store, San Jose, Cal., has
enlarged the floor space allotted to its phonograph
sales room?.
A set of four double-faced records for teaching
Latin by means of the phonograph has been pro-
duced by Prof. B. F. Ullman, head of the Latin
department of the University of Iowa.
The Wilson Music Shop, Inc., is the name of a
new firm recently opened at Guz and Monument
streets, Baltimore, Md.
The phonograph is used in a series of concerts
given by Sanger Bros., Dallas, Tex., under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Edna McDonald, director of the choir of
the Church of the Incarnation.
A removal sale of music rolls aided by window
displays last week caused a spirited run of the num-
bers on sale by the Eberhardt-Hays Music Co.,
Wichita, Kans.
A general line of musical merchandise is handled
by Benjamin Talman, who recently opened a store in
Tacoma, Wash.
The Montfort Music Shop, New Albany, Ind., in
a clever newspaper advertisement suggests a way to
entertain-guests. It is the phonograph of which the
store is a big seller through its vigorous methods of
advertising and canvassing. The handsome store of
the company is at 143 E. Market street.
The Ferguson Music House, San Jose, Cal., has
secured the retail agency for the Holton line of band
instruments, made by Frank Holton & Co., Elkhorn,
Wis.
A. W. Shade has been appointed manager of the
band instrument department of the Eberhardt-Hays
Music Co., Wichita, Kan.
William Berry, who has come from the house of
Philip Werlein, Ltd., New Orleans, has joined the
wholesale Victor department of Sherman, Clay &
Co., San Francisco, taking the place of Andrew Love,
who has gone to the Oakland Victor factory.
The Stone Piano Co., of Fargo, S. D., recently took
on the Victor line.
The Cable Piano Co., Minneapolis, Minn., has
added the Edison line to its phonograph offerings.
MUSIC GOODS IN GIFT SHOP.
The Gift Shop is the title of a new section in R.
Montalvo's Temple of Music, New Brunswick, N. J.
The stock includes Oriental ware, furniture novelties,
lamps and tapestries. Radle pianos, Victrolas, Edi-
son phonographs and radiolas.
NEW BRUNSWICK RECORD SERIES
Lists of Numbers Include Names of "Artists in the
New Hall of Fame."
The Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company has
launched a new series of records, "Popular Series by
Artists in the New Hall of Fame."
The Brunswick company in the new series is pro-
ducing records by the world's great artists, the selec-
tions of which are classed as "Popular," "Semi-Popu-
lar," "Standard," "Concert" and "Songs of Native
Lands."
Among the first selections to be announced in this
new series arc such popular songs as "Memory
Lane," sung by Mario Chamlce; "Mighty Lak a
Rose," sung by Florence Easton; "Coming Home,"
sung by Marie Morissey; "Smiling Through," sung
by John Charles Thomas, and "Blue Danube Waltz,"
sung by Maria Ivogun.
