PHONOGRAPHS FOR SCHOOL
Cable Piano Company, Chicago, Advertises Phono-
graphs and Records as an Educational Measure.
The school season is on and the Cable Piano Co.,
Wabash and Jackson, Chicago, is of the opinion that
no school has a complete equipment for educating
children without phonographs and records. Accord-
ingly the active retail department is making a special
effort to convince teachers the necessity of the pho-
nograph and educational records in the class room.
The fact is pointed out that children naturally love
the phonograph and would listen to it more eagerly
than to the customary talks by the instructor. Spe-
cial records are suggested for several major studies
such as history, geography, English and physical cul-
ture.
will be enclosed in the mailings of the illustrated
letters which are sent out regularly to your mailing
list.
When the customer brings the coupon in to you,
properly signed, simply give him two Vocalstyle rolls
for the price of one. Send the coupon in to us and
we will credit your account with 30 cents. You lose
nothing and you get more people into your store—
song rolls off your shelf—a quicker turnover on your
stock—more sales—more customers—bigger profits in
the long run.
You can look for a big demand for Vocalstyle
song and dance rolls just as soon as the coupons are
received. This is an offer playerpiano owners won't
pass up.
Check up now on your stock. Make sure you have
a good supply of all the new song and dance hits
as well as the old favorites and Vocalstyle innova-
tions. You'll need a big supply of all.
THE BAND.
The swelling sound of melody
Comes softly to the ear;
With cheerful tunes and harmony
The band is drawing near.
NEW VOCALSTYLE SALES PLAN
Two Song Rolls for Price of One Is Proposition
Presented Through the Dealer.
The Vocalstyle Music Company, Cincinnati, Ohio,
announces a special business-boosting plan which is
expected to bring about "the biggest trade the music
roll business has ever developed." The company says
in the announcement: Always thinking of the Vocal-
style dealer, we tried to devise some plan that would
help him sell more Vocalstyle song rolls—help him
keep his stock turning and thus increase his profits.
We considered many different plans. Finally we hit
on one which seemed to be a winner, and returns
from every locality prove that it is a winner." Here's
the plan:
For a limited time only we propose to give every-
one of your Vocalstyle customers and prospects—
every owner of a playerpiano in your territory—a
chance to buy two Vocalstyle song rolls for the price
of one.
Here's how it works out: The enclosed coupon
describes the offer and instructs the one who receives
it how to take advantage of it. One of these coupons
A burst of melody is borne,
With rat-tat-tat of drum,
And clarion note, of silver horn,
As gaily on they come,
While boys and girls, in martial stride,
With faces shining bright,
Enchanted struggle by the side,
Behind, to left and right.
With shrill of fluty piccolos
And trombones deep-toned hum,
The soft reed-noted oboes,
Timed by the rattling drum;
Sweet harmonies, that thrill the air,
Bring toiling hands to pause,
And smiling faces here and there
Appear at open doors.
The pleasure is too good to last,
We may not bid it stay,
As, swiftly on, the band goes past,
The music fades away.

MARTIN INSTRUMENTS CHOSEN
John Wanamaker, Philadelphia, Adds New Depart-
ment and Selects Handcraft Line of Band Goods.
Announcement is made by The Martin Band In-
strument Company, Elkhart, Ind., that it has just
shipped an initial order of band instruments to the
John Wanamaker store in New York City. The
opening of this splendid new account is regarded as
of unusual significance in that it is further evidence
of the consistent high quality of Handcraft Instru-
ments. Naturally the buyers and merchandising men
connected with the John Wanamaker company are
exceptional judges of values and the fact that they
find Martin Handcraft Instruments worthy of being
backed by their name speaks volumes for Martin
quality.
Incidentally the addition of the Wanamaker store
to the list of Martin dealers is further evidence that
the biggest merchants see in band instruments a
source of real profit for their music departments.
The J. H. C. Peterson Company, Davenport, la., the
Goldsmith Company, Memphis, Tenn., the Root Dry
Goods Company, Terre Haute, Ind., the Bamberger
Company of Newark, N. J., the Jordan-Marsh Com-
pany, Boston, and the largest and best stores in many
other cities are now profitably handling Martin
Handcraft Instruments.
