The vaudeville team of Moore & Freed has enter-
tained theatergoers for many years. Sam Moore is
widely known for his numerous phonograph record-
ings, having made records for five companies. His
versatility is shown in the fact that he plays prac-
tically every stringed instrument, including the banjo,
the guitar, the ukulele, and the octochorda (a special

eight-string guitar played in Hawaiian fashion). He
is also very skillful with novelty instruments, such as
the hand saw.
Freed is a very fine ukulele player. On his tours he
always has with him two beautifully-toned Washburn
ukuleles. These artists have just completed six re-
cordings for Vocalion records, for which Washburn
banjos, guitars and ukuleles were used.
F. E. WORCH BUYS BUSINESS.
After a very successful career with Lyon & Healy,
Chicago, as special sales representative, Fred E.
Worch recently decided to enter the retail musical
merchandise field and purchased the band and or-
chestral instruments department of Goldsmith's, Col-
umbus, Ohio. Mr. Worch, who is an expert per-
former on band instruments, managed the musical
merchandise department of a popular store before
joining Lyon & Healy. Goldsmith's have the ex-
clusive agency for Washburn stringed instruments
and Lyon & Healy Couturier band instruments and
saxophones in Columbus.
