CHICAGO
The part of radio in developing the universal love
of music which only awaits awakening is illustrated
by the following experience:
A farmer, a fruit grower from Michigan, walked
into the offices of the Martin Band Instrument Com-
pany, Elkhart, Indiana, not long ago, and announced
that he wanted to buy three Martin instruments.
The man's apparent occupation in life and the unusual
number of instruments asked for stimulated the inter-
est of Fred A. Holtz, sales manager, who took per-
sonal charge of the transaction.
"They're for my boys," the farmer explained.
"They're all excited about music. It's the radio, you
know."
The imagination of these youngsters had been in-
flamed by the concerts they heard over their radio set.
January 26, 1924.
Waltz, Impromptu in A flat, Liszt (Augusta Tollef-
sen); What Do You Do Sunday, Mary? (from
"Poppy"), fox trot with words, Caesar and Jones
(Howard Lutter); Willow Blossoms, Sousa (Earl
Hamilton).
LUDWIG DRUMS IN DEMAND
Chicago Factory with New Addition and Increased
Facilities Active in Production of Fine Drums.
The Ludwig Drum Mfg. Co., 1611 N. Lincoln
street, Chicago, which recently moved in its new
addition, providing greater facilities for the efficient
production of its products, has found that the Janu-
ary demand is far better than expected. It is gen-
erally conceded that January is a bad month, but not
with the Ludwig company. The Ludwig products
were much sought after last year and in view of this
fact and the stability of present trade conditions the
company expects a bigger and better business this
year.
The Ludwig drum has made a distinct impression
in the trade. The paramount thought with the Lud-
wig company is to produce drums of character and
quality that will please the most discriminate
customer.
