MORE NEW QENNETT RECORDS
Starr Piano Company, Richmond, Ind., This Week
Releases Desirable Numbers for Phonograph.
Among the new Gennett records out this week is a
violin number by Robert Perutz, which contains the
Gavotte (Mozart) and Cradle Song (Aulin). Robert
Perutz, Polish violinist, has done a great deal of con-
cert work in many countries and is now on the staff
of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. In his first
Gennett record Mr. Perutz's playing is characterized
by his usual musicianship. The popular songs are:
Down in Arkansaw (Evans) and Sunshine of Mine
(Chapman-Kelly-Beiner, Carpenter and Ingram (The
Harmony Girls). The Harmony Girls have enter-
tained thousands through the stage and the radio and
they never fail to please. These songs from their
popular repertoire are brimful of melody. Another is
No. 5339, containing: Awful Moanin' Blues (Miller)
and He's My Man, Your Man, Josie Miles.
For dancing—I Love the Girl Who Kisses (I Hate
the Girl Who Don't) (fox-trot) and Are You Lonely?
Bailey's Lucky Seven.
Jigs and reels—The Way's to the Racket (Irish
reels) and Baxter's Jig (Irish Jig), Peter Conlon.
Another lively jig and reel in the sprightly manner
characteristic of this popular artist's interpretations.
Foreign (GerMan)—Wanderers Heimkehr (walzer)
and Zillerthaler Madeln (polka), National Kapelle.
Oregon State Song (Buchanan-Murtaugh) and My
Own United States (Strange-Edwards), by Walter
R. Jenkins. "Oregon State Song" is a typical state
song by Walter R. Jenkins and is sung in a very ap-
pealing manner.
Band—The Gallant 106th Infantry March (Matt)
and Washington Grays (March) (Grafulla), Lieut.
Matt's 106th Infantry Band. One of the most if not
actually the most arousing, blood tingling patriotic
march records released on Gennetts is this record.
These numbers are brilliantly played in a true mili-

tary style as only a military organization can play this
type of music.
Waltz—Waltz of Irish Melodies (medley waltz)
and Bring Back That Old-Fashioned Waltz (Ma-
lotte), Nathan Glantz and His Orchestra. A fine old-
fashioned offering of Irish melodies in waltz time
played in a most engaging way by Nathan Glantz
and His Orchestra. A good waltz never loses its
fascination.

FAMOUS OLD VIOLINS
Prominent Musical People Now Owners of Prized
and Valuable Models.
Another famous old violin made by Antonius Stradi-
varius in the year 1716 has been sold by Lyon &
Healy, Chicago. This instrument is known as the
"Colossus" and has a very celebrated history. The
name was given to it because of a magnificent tone
of tremendous carrying power.
This example is exceedingly beautiful in appear-
ance. The back is formed by two pieces of handsome
curly maple with sides to match; the top is of spruce
of exceptional quality and the varnish is of a very
beautiful orange red color. It was formerly the prop-
erty of the celebrated artist, Jacques Thibaud. The
purchaser would prefer not to have his name men-
tioned at this time.
Lyon & Healy has also sold to Joseph Roda, one
of the principal members of the Chicago Grand Opera
Orchestra, the Nicolas Gagliano violin of the year
1761, from the internationally famous Partello collec-
tion. It is in a perfect state of preservation and the
choicest example from the hand of this master known
to Lyon & Healy.
The violin is built upon broad Stradivarius lines.
The back is formed by one piece of the most beautiful
curly maple. The top is spruce of fine grain and the
instrument is covered with varnish of an orange-red
color. Mr. Partello acquired this example for his col-
lection about thirty-five years ago.
Lyon & Healy also sold to the concert master of one
of the most prominent symphony orchestras the
Nicolas Lupot violin, date about the year 1800, also
from the Partello collection. The model is that of
Petrus Guarnerius, The back is formed of one piece
of handsome curly maple, the top spruce of fine grain.
The instrument is in a perfect state of preservation
and is covered with a varnish of a lovely ruby red
color. This is one of the choicest violins from the
hand of this maker existing today.
